Selflessness at Christmas

When we were younger, we never really liked giving presents, we just liked receiving them from our friends and family.  Many best friends just agree not to buy each other presents, just to save each other hastle.

I however, have had a revelation this year, as this year, ive had to start paying for my own things, such as presents for family, and ive decided to spend the spare bit of money i had left over after buying what i needed to at christmas, to spend on others.

Like today, ive treated my best friend Arran to Left 4 Dead 2 via the Steam gift service.

This is barely nothing compared to the gift hes buying me in return, but still, i guess its the thought that counts, and ive brought this collecting up my last little bit of money. Just because i knew he wanted it and i knew i may just be able to afford it.

I like knowing that ive given him something to do, i know hes a big fan of zombie games, so this means my present to him is going to mean hes going to have a lot of laughs.

I enjoy helping people out, thats why i think if i ever reach fame via YouTube, i wont be a like many of the other stubborn others, im actually going to try and help people i feel are underrated, because i know what it feels like to be in that position where i cant get anywhere, but i guess, as im still in that position i cant really voice my opinion, as of yet.

Either way, im going to try as hard as i can, no matter how big i get, to read all comments put on my videos, answer all questions asked and heavily interact with them all. One other means of communication i hope to utilize is twitter, meaning they can easily contact me and i can easily respond.

So yeah, feel free, if you have any questions to tweet @halfpipes on twitter.
I will try and answer/respond to all things sent my way.

I hope you guys, reading this are also quite selfless. The gift of giving is a strange one to enjoy, especially when you are technically the one losing out on getting something for yourself. But i've grown to enjoy seeing other people happy more than seeing myself happy.  Well, i worded that wrong, what i meant was, if the people around me are happy, that makes me happy.

Thanks for reading guys.

How to get off your feet on YouTube as a gamer

This article is for people that are struggling on growing their channel on YouTube. As i have the right to talk from experience, Getting off your feet is insanely hard on YouTube. I have only recently in these past few months, launched the channel 'wumblr' and as im writing this on the night of Christmas Eve 2011, i hit 100 subscribers today. I know not much, but i feel like its my first to step to slowly getting off my feet.

Its a milestone, a small one, but yet still, a milestone. I have reached this rather small goal by putting as much dedication into my channel as most big YouTubers. Because thats all you need to do to get big, perseverance and effort.

I upload videos every day, and i try and make them decent quality.

I also interact with my subscribers.
A big part of growing on YouTube, is interaction. This means developing a bond with your subscribers, pouring and expressing your personality throughout your videos.

Ask them questions, let them ask questions, make yourself easy to contact and put yourself on your way to be publically available at all times.

I have a constant stream of people posting on my channel comments, this is how i get my traffic, i go on sites such as MachinimaRealm and try and find people with similar interests as me, like Minecraft for example.. I then go on their channel and greet myself, and they normally respond and i have about 25 brief conversations a day with people. And they usually start to notice my videos and being to like them.

GOLDEN RULE TO SUCCESS: DO NOT SUB4SUB, EVER. EVERRRRRRR.

You have to upload regularly, and try and ensure good quality on your videos, its nice to go out your way and include an intro on your videos or a watermark. Which can easily be done, maybe check that out in a soon to be released tutorial of mine..

Another good idea, is to make friends. I try and involve myself with people with channels with around the same number of subs, as well as interacting with some bigger stars such as people that upload to Machinima and Yeousch and other community channels like that.

A big saying in life is 'Its sometimes who you know, not what you know, that will cause your success', If you know the right people they can help you out.

I personally will try and help out anyone who approaches me, because i like to help, and i know what it feels like.

I am currently still on the harsh task of trying to get out there, but im slowly making my first steps. So i appreciate any support possible, if that means giving me a shoutout, boxxing my channel(wumblr) on your channel or just going and subscribing, every step helps me get closer to my goal of getting big.
This has been wumblr, and i wish you all a great success on YouTube, just stick at it, its what im going to do.

And maybe in a few years, and i still havent given up my drive to grow on youtube, and ive gained a larger fanbase, perhaps between 10,000 and 20,000 subscribers, ill look back at this, and think, yeah, i never gave up.

I feel like i have potential, and if people give me a chance, ill prove myself and i really feel like i can become big, just give me a chance.

So go check out my channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/wumblr

I appreciate all help. And im always here to help other who need it. Thanks for reading, Goodbye. - wumblr
